Payments via Polar for EDD: what it doesn't do, and FAQ
What it doesn’t do
Section titled “What it doesn’t do”- One-time payments only. EDD Recurring Payments subscriptions aren’t supported yet.
- Not yet tested with EDD Software Licensing. See EDD Software Licensing.
- Only currencies Polar can charge. The gateway hides itself in any other store currency.
- No Polar discount codes on Polar’s page. EDD’s own discount codes work.
- Don’t charge EDD’s own taxes. Polar works out the tax.
- Split refunds made in Polar (not the whole order, and not exactly one item) are noted on the order, not recorded.
Who is the seller on my customers’ receipts?
Section titled “Who is the seller on my customers’ receipts?”Polar. As merchant of record it’s the seller of each payment, so the receipt and the tax on it come from Polar.
What does Polar receive?
Section titled “What does Polar receive?”Each checkout sends Polar the order total and currency, the shopper’s email address, name and IP address, the order’s ID, number and key, your site’s address and the names of the items. For signed-in customers it also sends an ID made of your site’s address and their user ID, so Polar knows them next time. Polar’s terms and privacy policy apply. The plugin suggests privacy-policy text under Settings › Privacy.
What happens to my settings if I delete the plugin?
Section titled “What happens to my settings if I delete the plugin?”Nothing is removed. The settings stay in EDD’s settings, as with EDD’s own gateways, and the license key stays too, since deleting it wouldn’t free its site on the ZealDen store. To move the key to another site, free this one in My Account › Licenses: see Move a key.
Where do I enter my license key?
Section titled “Where do I enter my license key?”In Downloads › Settings › Payments › Polar, in the License field. It’s activated when you save the settings. See Activate a key.
