Confirmed before the thank-you page
The order-received page checks with Polar first and waits a few seconds for a payment still being confirmed. Scheduled checks 15 and 60 minutes later catch any payment the webhook missed.
Polar becomes the seller of record for each payment, so it works out, collects and remits sales tax and VAT. Your products, orders and customers stay in WooCommerce, and an order is marked paid only when Polar collected exactly its total.
From $39 a year or $119 once · WordPress 6.5+ · PHP 8.1+ · WooCommerce 8.0+ · A Polar account

Works with
A card processor collects the payment, but registering for and filing sales tax and VAT stays your job. A merchant of record is legally the seller, so the tax is its job.
"Stripe doesn't automatically take care of it for you because it's not a Merchant of Record."
"I gave up on a marketplace-style side-project because the tax stuff was going to be a major part of running the business."
Your prices can include tax or exclude it, and Polar works out the tax either way. The order is marked paid only when Polar collected exactly its total, in that currency (before tax, when your prices exclude it).
Enter your live and sandbox credentials and test each connection. With the right token scope, the plugin adds the webhook in Polar for you.
Take a sandbox payment first. In test mode only store managers and the testers you name can pay, so shoppers never see a test checkout.
Turn off WooCommerce taxes, since Polar works them out, sync your products once, and switch test mode off.

Refund in the order screen and the money goes back through Polar. Refunds made in Polar show up on the order too, and a refund Polar couldn't pay is noted there.
Set a product to renew every month or year, or sell WooCommerce Subscriptions products. Several can be bought in one checkout and are billed together, each at its own price. Each payment becomes a renewal order, Polar emails customers a week before each yearly renewal, and they manage their subscription in Polar's portal.
Separate live and sandbox credentials, each with Test connection. Site Health warns about missing credentials, a webhook that stopped arriving, or WooCommerce taxes left on.
Every plan has every feature. Local copies on localhost, .test or .local don't use a site.
