# Local copies

> Which copies of your site, such as localhost and .test addresses, don't use one of your plan's seats.

A copy of your site on your own computer or network doesn't use a seat. These addresses are free:

- `localhost`
- private and loopback IP addresses, such as `192.168.1.20` or `127.0.0.1`
- addresses ending in `.test`, `.local`, `.localhost`, `.example` or `.invalid`

Under **My Account › Licenses**, such a site is listed as "local site, doesn't count".

A staging site on a public address, such as `staging.yourstore.com`, set up and activated on its own, uses a seat like any other site. A staging copy cloned from your live site's database shares the live site's seat.
