# Embedded payment form

> Open Polar's checkout in a window over your checkout page instead of sending shoppers to Polar's page.

Off by default. When it's on, Polar's checkout opens in a window over your checkout page, and shoppers stay on your site.

1. Turn on **Embedded payment form** in the plugin's settings, and choose **Payment window theme**: Light or Dark.
2. In each Polar organization (live and sandbox), add your site's address under **Settings › Preferences › Embedding**. The settings panel shows exactly what to add. Until it's there, Polar won't open inside your site and shoppers are sent to Polar's page instead.

If you haven't changed the payment method's description, it becomes "Pay securely in a Polar window, without leaving this page." If you wrote your own and it mentions being redirected, update it.

Your site needs HTTPS, except on localhost. Apple Pay and Google Pay inside the window also need Polar to verify your domain: ask Polar support.

## What happens next

| What the shopper does | Where they go |
|---|---|
| Pays | Your order-received page |
| Closes the window | The order's pay page; the order stays payable |
| The window doesn't open or report in time | Polar's own checkout page, as usual |

It works on the checkout block and the classic checkout. The order-pay page always goes to Polar's page. The webhook confirms the payment either way.
