# Test mode

> EDD's test mode uses your Polar sandbox organization, with its own token and webhook secret.

EDD's test mode is Polar's sandbox. With it on, checkouts go to your sandbox organization at sandbox.polar.sh, using the **Sandbox (test mode)** token and webhook secret. A sandbox payment moves no money.

1. Fill in **Sandbox (test mode)** and add its webhook, as for live. See [Set it up](/docs/payments-via-polar-edd/setup/).
2. Turn on EDD's test mode, under **Downloads › Settings › Payments › General**.
3. Buy a download with one of Polar's test cards, and check the order completes and the files are delivered.
4. Refund it, from EDD or from Polar, and check the refund shows on both sides.
5. Turn test mode off.

Every order remembers whether it was paid in live or test mode, for good: its refunds, checks and webhooks always go to that organization. Switching modes later doesn't move old orders.
