# Embedded checkout

> Open Polar's checkout in a window over your EDD checkout page instead of sending shoppers to Polar's page.

Off by default. When it's on, Polar's checkout opens in a window over your checkout page, and shoppers stay on your site.

1. Tick **Embedded checkout** in **Downloads › Settings › Payments › Polar**, and choose **Window theme**: Light or Dark.
2. In each Polar organization (live and sandbox), add your site's address under **Settings › Preferences › Embedding**. The setting shows exactly what to add. Until it's there, Polar won't open inside your site and shoppers go to Polar's page instead.

Your site needs HTTPS. If the window can't open for any reason, or doesn't load within 20 seconds, the purchase goes to Polar's page as usual, so a shopper is never stuck.

The window uses Polar's own embed script, `@polar-sh/checkout` 0.4.1, which the plugin includes (Apache License 2.0).
